Originally known as "Kings Town," the city of Conway SC was founded in 1732. As one of the oldest settlements in South Carolina, the city has been very important in the development of the state. It was a major tobacco producing community, but has changed over the years to producing lumber and other construction materials. The population of Conway as of 2010 was 16,317.
